The Ten Rules of Buying Oracle Training

dividers

IT Training Magazine confirm the importance of buying authorised training.

1. Do check if the firm is an Oracle specialist
If not, it might not have the staff or the resources to focus on your precise training requirements. What's more, it might not have the latest training materials if it's not an approved Oracle Partner.

2. Do check quality
Ask youself these questions: first, is the organisation ISO9000 certified? Second, is it an accredited Oracle Education Partner, not just an Oracle Partner? Third, are its trainers Oracle Certified? And fourth, does the Oracle User Group currently recommend this company for Oracle training?

3. Do check value
Could your organisation qualify for a volume discount from Oracle? Or could your total training requirement be consolidated via a managed service account through an Oracle Partner?

4. Do check what your delegates will receive when they attend
Will they get authorised training manuals? Will they get online access to Oracle training following the course? Will they have access to their instructor for questions following the course?

5. Do check the content
If this is improtant for your company, do check content against the Oracle Certification Exams. Does the material cover all the topics that are likely to come up in the exam?

6. Do check that the qualification is the OCP scheme
Be aware that some companies have their own proprietary certification, rather than the Oracle Certification Programme.

7. Do check the frequency and the locations of the courses on offer
Some companies offer very limited curriculum and locations, so ensure that all your needs are covered.

8. Don't purchase unauthorised private-event training
Beware of purchasing private-event training that is not held at your company site or at an Oracle or partner site. You might be using unauthorised Oracle software.

9. Don't ignore PC requirements
Don't commit to training if you aren't completely sure that each delegate will have a PC - most Oracle training requires hands-on exercises and labs.

10. Don't commit if you are unsure of the firm
There has been a lot of consolidation in the IT training market over the past 18 months, and you might be putting your Oracle implementation project at risk if the training is delayed or cancelled.
