Question I have large reports (seven megabytes or more) that work well when I use BusinessObjects on Windows 2000. But as soon as I try to run the same BusinessObjects reports on Windows XP, the software often crashes with a general power failure. What’s going on?
Answer Windows XP manages memory differently than Windows 2000, NT, and 98. Luckily, Microsoft has worked hard to create backward compatibility in XP. So what’s the solution? You need to change the way XP runs your specific application. Here’s how to make this change to BusinessObjects:
- Go to the directory where the BusinessObjects executable is located. (This is typically c:programfilesBusiness ObjectsBusinessObjects 5.0).
- Right click on the BusObj.exe and select the Properties menu option
- In the properties window, click on the Compatibility tab.
- You’ll see a drop-down menu with different operating systems to choose from. For the purposes of this solution, select Windows 2000.
- Apply the changes and launch BusinessObjects in the normal way. The report should now refresh successfully.
